Today is the 5th anniversary of the software patent directive rejection by the European Parliament - July 6th, 2005.

To those involved in the rejection : "Let's never forget this amazing challenge we all faced together and the emotion storm that overwhelmed us when we realized we did succeed : the impossible made possible ! Despite our differences, we had been standing united as a sole man. I suppose, we had no other choice." (Alexandra Combes, Ultimate Circle Managing Director, FFII member since 2005).

It was the first time in E.U. history that civil society spreaded its voice so massively, was heard and won over big industries lobbyists. Also, the unforgettable day when the European Parliament reminded the Commission and Council of the signification of the word Democracy, "the most decisive majority vote in the history of the chamber" (Josep Borell, former EP President), the "clear invitation to the Commission and the Council to show full respect to the Parliament in future" (Michel Rocard, Rapporteur on the Directive).

Summer Perspectives

Here come the summer - time for sun break and retrospective on yearly activity. An occasion for us to reveal some of our projects started in 2010 and the related perspectives for the coming months.

Whereas 2009 had been mostly devoted to the organization's set up, the new decade marks the launching of Ultimate Circle's projects towards a better, sustainable and philanthropic Europe.

1° "Fair Art Fair Gallery - Philanthropic Art Society" : Artists and galleries participating to philanthropic fundraising operations through art selling will now be rewarded by a label. When Art promotion and Philanthropy go hand by hand.. The PhilanthropicArt © is born.

2° "Non-profit Action Coordinnation Committees" : Whereas nonprofit organizations are often tempted to work separately one from eachother, the creation of a group dedicated to action coordinnation appears necessary. We launch the process - contact us to be part of it.

3° "Sustainable Support Towards a Better World" : You have a project to make the world a better place but don't know where to start ? Ultimate Circle has set up a methodology to help you develop your project step by step. Members of the organization will soon get access to valuable resources and customized support... Stay tuned !

"I was born in Bree on 17/03/1969. Went there to school untill my 18th and left then as student for F.U.S.Louis-lawschool. After my graduation I went on to U.C.Louvain-la-Neuve to finish my Master at the affaires publiques et internationnales. Following Master I started a PhD in Law and an I.B.Administration at H.U.B. Throughout all these years and still today I've been active, first, at the Euro-Atlantic Youth association of Belgian which I presented at local and federal level (YATA) and then the Euro-Atlantic association of Belgium in which I'm, by other hands, still a volunteer."
