Paris 9/12/2009 - CONFERENCE Globalisation - "Fragmentation in a globalised world"

Speakers who have accepted to participate include Alan Winters (Sussex University and DFID); Mustapha Nabli (World Bank); André Sapir (Free Univeristy of Brussels); François Bourguignon (Paris School of Economics); Pierre Jacquet (AFD); and Carlos Winograd (associate researcher at Paris School of Economics).

On this occasion, around 700 academics and development practitioners from both the North and the South will gather to exchange views on these critical issues. The conference is aimed at promoting a constructive dialogue between academic research and operational expertise in order to explore lessons and perspectives for ODA policies.

Brussels 1st/12/2009 - CONGRESS Environment/Agriculture - "2nd European Organic Congress IFOAM EU"

The IFOAM EU Group represents the 300 member organisations of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) in theEU-27, EFTA and the accession countries. Member organisations include: consumer, farmer and processor associations ; research, education and advisory organisations ; certification bodies and commercial organic companies.

The December 1st forum will bring together high-level representatives from the EU institutions and about 200 participants representing organic farming associations, the organic processing and retailing business and other interested people and organisations from the EU Member States and beyond. On-line registration is open since 1st of October.

Bruxelles 19/11/2009 - CONFERENCE "ASYLUM SEEKERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS"

The conference "IDENTIFICATION OF (VULNERABLE ?) ASYLUM SEEKERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE RECEPTION CONDITIONS DIRECTIVE 2003/9: CONCEPTS, PROCEDURE AND PURPOSES" is the result of a close cooperation between lawyers specialised in refugee law member of the Odysseus Academic Network and social workers dealing with asylum seekers. It will also benefit from the experience of several NGOs running projects on the ground. Apart of all those partners, the Odysseus Network wants to thank warmly the European Commission for its financial support given through the European Refugee Fund and the European Network of Asylum Reception Organisations (ENARO), as well as the UNHCR acting as a referee to ensure the quality of the project.

The registration fee for the congress is €75. This covers the participation, the documentation pack, coffee breaks and lunch on Thursday noon. The fees must be paid for 15 November.
